Meet Our Team: Hatha Teacher Meghan
Say hello to Meghan, our new Community yoga teacher, and latest addition to our AGY family! Meghan is a 1000 hour certified Hatha yoga teacher, specializing in yoga, mantra, and Radical Self Care. She loves yoga, and considers herself a lifelong student of the science. As a teacher, she’s inspired by the slowness and stillness to be found within the practice, and the opportunity to see a little more clearly. Over the years Meghan has been on a journey towards rest, finding an ability for ease, and the knowledge that comes from that space. Her classes and offerings center around radical care: both self and community.
All of which you can experience during Meghans Community yoga classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. for just $11 per person.
All the profits from our Community Yoga classes are divided and donated to the Downtown Women’s Center of LA and the Native Americans in Philanthropy organization. It is our aim, through these Community Yoga classes, to support not only fresh talent within the yoga community but also non-profits we deeply resonate with.
Get to know more about Meghan in our interview below…
AGY: What is your Astrology Sign and how do you relate to it?
Meghan: I’m a Gemini sun, Taurus moon, and Capricorn rising. For a really long time I only really felt like I related to the nature of my Capricorn rising, and I would assign a lot of value to my productivity and ability to get things done. I still value these traits as a part of my whole, but over the last couple of years as I’ve come to understand astrology better and listened deeper to my chart, I’ve been on a journey to fully embrace my wild, fun, creative and communicative Gemini self. The biggest embrace has been leaning into my ability as a teacher and communicator.
AGY: What is your Favorite mantra?
Meghan: The Gayatri mantra. I’ve been chanting it for a long time, and I truly appreciate its power to connect me into my spiritual self so completely.
AGY: Tell us a random fact about you?
Meghan: I used to sing in a band with my dad! We’re both musicians and I had the great joy of sharing this passion with him.
AGY: What is your favorite inspirational quote?
Meghan: “Trust & love yourself fiercely even when it feels difficult.” -Alex Elle
AGY: How did you get into Yoga?
Meghan: In my early 20s I felt called to try it out and immediately found something I really like and that made me feel good. Once I found my NYC home studio of Bread and Yoga, I met amazing and deep spiritual teachers who gently guided me deeper into the knowledge of myself and I’ve been hooked on that learning and exploration ever since!
AGY: Why are you passionate about teaching yoga?
Meghan: This practice has brought me so much understanding of myself and a deeper sense of calm throughout my living. I am passionate about introducing this possibility to other people and truly enjoy guiding my students into deeper layers of knowing themselves. Whether it’s in a class setting or one on one work, connecting this way with people brings me so much joy.
AGY: Describe yourself in three words?
Meghan: playful, passionate, grounded.
AGY: What brings you most joy and why?
Meghan: Laughter with a close friend will keep me shining for the whole week! Connection gives me inspiration and reminds me to remember my playful side.
AGY: If you live in LA, when and why did you move here?
Meghan: I moved to LA in February of 2021 and it’s been the culmination of a years-long dream. Five years ago I took a road trip through California after not visiting for a decade. I was immediately reminded of how much I love it here and how fully my soul feels at home. This was the start of my plan to leave the intensity of NYC behind and begin my exploration of living someplace new.
AGY: What is your favorite hobby, aside from yoga?
Meghan: Taking care of my plants!
AGY: What is your favorite food?
Meghan: All things pasta 🙂
